Who We Are
International Women’s Initiative (IWI) is an organisation which raises awareness of the threats to the human rights of women across the globe and to promote and assist in the achievement of gender equality. Since 2012, IWI has worked to eradicate and educate on human rights violations against women. We take our values very seriously and believe that we cannot one day have equality without transparency, collaboration, inclusiveness, integrity, or tenacity.
As an organisation which is run 100% by volunteers, we are looking for a Volunteer Deputy Director who can help lead IWI while ensuring we remain true to our mission and goals.
Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from staff and project management to administration, and human resources. The Deputy Director will partner closely with the ED to chart IWI’s future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organisation’s services.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced leader who can lead from the front with ideally experience/qualifications in development or human rights, and who is able to manage and further develop our organisation and our programmes.
Responsibilities
▪ Management of team leaders
▪ Build and maintain strong relationships; exceptional relationship-builder
▪ Represent IWI in industry-group conferences, professional associations, and other public venues
▪ Share in knowledge dissemination, reporting, and communications
▪ Partner with the ED in essential internal firm leadership activities
▪ Mentoring, coaching; visible, approachable sounding board/resource
▪ Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities
▪ Assisting with the hiring of key staff
Requirements
▪ 8+ distinguished years in a senior management position in a nonprofit organisation, foundation, or government agencies
▪ Advanced degree preferred
▪ Track record delivering superior results, commanding respect, and assuming leadership roles
▪ Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities
▪ Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor
▪ Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and
senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds
▪ Operates with excellence in mind in all matters, with the confidence to defend/debate ideas without ego interfering
▪ Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential
▪ Passionate about IWI’s mission and impact
▪ Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings
▪ Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
▪ Attention to detail and problem solving skills
▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
▪ Proficiency in English
▪ Discretion and confidentiality
▪ Based in London preferred
