Commercial Manager

We work closely in partnership with our customers and local communities to solve problems and add value over the long term, which will ultimately make them successful.We are currently recruiting seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager. The purpose of the role is to


  • Manage the commercial function of the Housing Response Maintenance Section to ensure financial performance meets targets set out in the Business Plan.

  • Provide reports to the Commercial Director on financial and commercial performance of the unit, and contractual issues affecting it.

  • Responsible for all Commercial and Contractual matters in the Housing Response Maintenance Section

Key Responsibilities


  • Maintenance Section, ensuring that all contracts are provided with high quality commercial services. Such services to include:
    • sub-contract procurement and commercial management of subcontractors, labour, plant and materials;

    • production of monthly reports, cost plans and forecasts;

    • provision of contractual advice to the contract teams.


  • To co-ordinate production of monthly site reports. Input information for production of Management Reports.

  • To advise the section on commercial and contractual matters.

  • To provide contractual and commercial advice in relation to tenders, and provide assistance where required. Attend tender adjudications where appropriate.

  • Attend and report to Operations and Contract Meetings concerning financial performance and contractual issues.

  • Review planned workload against available commercial resources. Liaise with the Commercial Director and other unit Commercial Managers concerning availability of alternative resources.

  • Interview external candidates and make recommendations to the Commercial Director.

  • Have resources and plans that enable:
    • The proper execution of the commercial function on site.

    • The provision of annual job reviews in accordance with the requirements of IIP, and follow up interviews to see that objectives are being met.

    • The motivation and welfare of commercial staff

    • The training and development of commercial staff
