Contract 10-12 months


You will be responsible for:


  • Supporting the delivery of a comprehensive press office function, in particular by ensuring incoming media enquiries and interview requests are dealt with effectively and to deadline

  • Act as one of the first ‘ports of call’ for media enquiries into the business

  • Maintain relationships with target journalists to ensure accurate reporting of the work they do and features and to extend their research to target audiences

  • Ensure responses to media enquiries and requests for interviews are delivered effectively and efficiently, meeting required deadlines

  • Delivery of media management strategies, particularly among target trade and specialist publications (eg.through the use of press releases), to include liaison with key trade journalists

  • Managing their reputation externally and promoting its work, through media and stakeholder management and by supporting ambassadors

  • Work closely with colleagues to proactively promote the organisation’s work, through placed articles, interviews, comments and PR activities.

  • Proactively identifying opportunities to promote the organisation’s work through placed articles and interviews; writing and delivering them

  • Support spokespeople with ad-hoc PR and media activities, including by providing briefings and advising on messaging; and by providing direct support at events and interviews

  • Support and develop strategies by spotting news opportunities, landmarks and milestones to exploit and other media opportunities

  • Monitor media coverage and wider news agendas, flagging urgent issues to the head of corporate communications and engagement and/or senior manager, external relations; and provide advice on a response

Experience required


  • Current or recent experience working in a “front line” role in PR/Media Relations-liaising with journalists, gained in the UK financial services sector

  • PR experience gained in Financial Services should come from the Pensions, Investments or Life Insurance sectors (gained in the UK market)

  • Excellent writing skills with experience of writing in a PR capacity eg.press releases

  • Confident with ability to deal with senior stakeholders as well as journalists
