It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of:


Lecturer in Sport


Applications are invited for an outstanding candidate with a broad knowledge and experience of sport and physical education. The successful candidate is required to have a PhD in an appropriate area of the sport sciences and be committed to delivering research of a high quality.


The post holder will be expected to teach on and develop the curriculum in Sport and Physical Education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Contribution to the teaching of the Sport and Exercise Science programme is also expected where appropriate. Applications are particularly welcome from individuals with backgrounds in sport management and/or development, who can demonstrate the broader impact of these disciplines to the Sport Sciences.


The University is rapidly developing its research profile and has an ambitious agenda for the future. The applicant will have a research track in a core BPS psychology topic with potential applications to real-life situations. All new academic staff appointed to the University must either already be research active at REF 3* or above level or have the clear proven capacity, willingness and ability to become research active at this level for REF2020. The University has various support mechanisms in place to help scholars who are ambitious in developing his strong research profile.


The post is permanent, subject to the normal probationary period of twelve months.
