United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Humanitarian Awards & Compliance Advisor


We are looking for a Humanitarian Awards & Compliance Advisor to join the busy humanitarian awards team, delivering high quality and timely award management to the humanitarian department, including line management of a team of three awards officers working on the direct spend portfolio.

Our humanitarian awards team sits within the operations unit of the humanitarian department. The team provides efficient and effective award management, compliance review and portfolio monitoring to the humanitarian department. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.


As Humanitarian Awards & Compliance Advisor you will manage a portfolio of direct spend or collaborative entity awards and provide accurate, and comprehensive donor compliance advice to the Humanitarian Department and wider team. In addition you will:


  • Coach and develop team members to deliver quality award management whilst fostering their professional development through regular one to ones and development plans

  • Ensure the portfolio managed by your team is supported effectively, providing timely support to the humanitarian department

  • Provide donor compliance expertise in reviews of proposals and reports for home donors

  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant networks and multiple stakeholders across Save the Children

  • Design and deliver internal, donor compliance training and briefing sessions with a focus upon key humanitarian donors.

As Humanitarian Awards & Compliance Advisor you will have a strong understanding of the award management cycle, proposal submission best practices, income claim requests and debt management. You will have the ability to provide high level advice on donor proposals and reporting. You will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition you will have:


  • Knowledge of grant regulations and reporting requirements of major donors with experience of managing grants and cooperative agreements, including budget and financial report preparation

  • Substantial direct experience of award management for an international organisation

  • Experience of reviewing complex, regional emergency proposals and reports

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to support and motivate a team of professionals

  • Experience of working in a complex international organisation

  • Ability to challenge and negotiate assertively and cooperatively with senior staff.
