Job Purpose


To undertake a range of duties associated with the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme teaching and associated administration as requested by the Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHW) in order to contribute to the objectives of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Research Group and to achieve national/international excellence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities


  1. To deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities with the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), in line with MHW teaching objectives at postgraduate level.

  2. To actively contribute to the development of appropriate teaching materials to ensure content and methods of delivery meet learning objectives.

  3. To participate fully in the assessment process, using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning.

  4. To supervise practical work advising on skills, methods and techniques to assist the transfer of knowledge.

  5. To contribute to the ongoing development and design of the curriculum, in a manner that supports a research led and scholarly approach to student learning.

  6. To supervise individual student projects and assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems.

  7. To engage in professional development as appropriate and regularly update subject related knowledge base and apply (research) informed teaching methodology.

  8. To undertake departmental administrative duties as requested by the Head of MHW.

  9. To be familiar with subject-based pedagogy, undertake scholarship in the subject and where appropriate undertake limited research accordingly.

  10. To engage in professional development to remain current and ensure application of recent advances in knowledge to teaching.

  11. Provision of pastoral care to students.

  12. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Glasgow 2020 – A Global Vision.

Terms & Conditions


Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 7, £33,574 – £37,768 per annum, pro rata.


This post has current funding for up to 18 months in the first instance and is part time (21 hours per week).

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
