Business Manager to Chief Operating Officer

We are currently looking for an experienced Business Managerto work closely with our Chief Operating Officer (COO) on apermanent basis.

What you will be doing


As the Business Manager to our Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for providing high qualitysupport in all aspects of direction and control of the Chief Operating Office. The role will require you to engage with senior of stakeholders across theArchitas Business to ensure successful execution and delivery of teamobjectives.


You will beresponsible for managing and leading the business infrastructure governance,control, reporting and process improvement across COO area. We are looking for the successful applicantto act as a trusted adviser to the Chief Operating Officer by introducing andimplementing new practices required to achieve corporate and divisionalobjectives.


The successful candidate will possess a delivery focussed mind set, be able tointerpret and present raw data coupled with the ability to communicate complexinformation in a clear and compelling manner.


Key Accountabilities


  • Support the creation and management of an effective business plan.


  • Support the design and deliver a team strategy, ensuring the team are engaged and the strategy is effectively communicated to the wider business as required.




  • Support delivery against key objectives for the department and liaise with the leaders across the business




  • Provide performance management support for the COO’s direct reports including objectives setting, briefings for appraisals, mid-year and end of year reviews.




  • Manage the departmental budget




  • Provide project support as required to the Chief Operating Office and across Architas as and when required.




  • Own and lead Board and Committee meetings, paper production for COO functions across the Hub ensuring that actions are follow up in a timely manner.




  • Produce regular KPI and MI packs, ensuring analysis of key metrics are carried out and any actions necessary are taken.




  • Ownership and management of Architas 3rd party supplier appointment process, working closely with procurement to ensure all governance processes are followed




  • Provide holiday cover for the head of executive office.



Who are we looking for?


To be successful in this role you will need previous experience working in a project or programme management environment and must be able to demonstrate strong process improvement skills. You will ideally have experience within Asset management or the learning agility to get up to speed quickly. You will need to exhibit a high level of initiative, strong organisational skills and drive with the ability to prioritise workload and deal with conflicting priorities.


You will need to quickly develop strong relationships with a broad network of stakeholders across the Architas business. Fundamentally we are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:


  • University degree or professional qualification (desirable but not essential)

  • Ability to understand and interpret financial information

  • Very strong communication skills both written and verbal

  • Ability to rapidly understand, assimilate, analyse and present information on complex business issues

  • Strong impact, influencing and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to rapidly understand and exercise sound judgement on a range of complex and diverse issues

  • Passion for delivering high quality work and continuous improvement
