About the finance team


The team currently consists of 14 people split between 3 specialist areas of associate support, corporate accounting and project accounting. A vibrant team with a strong sense of team spirit committed to delivering excellence and constant innovative improvement.


Adam Smith International is now recruiting for a Payments Officer position to support the current finance team after a phase of company expansion.


As part of the finance team you will also collaborate on a variety of projects to achieve broader “best practice” throughout the organisation. You will be part of a new, dynamic and growing finance team.

About the Role


The accounts payable clerk will perform a key role in Adam Smith International’s finance team through providing support in processing and verifying all purchase invoices incurred as a result of project delivery and corporate activities. The Payments Officer will be the main contact for associate consultants on procedure compliance with company policy.


You will:


· Take ownership of international and domestic payments. Circa 700 international and 500 domestics.


· Manage a high volume of internal transfer requests and processing with set timescales and managing overseas cash levels.


· Accurate processing of high value outgoing payments.


· Nominal journal entries to aid the reconciliation of GBP and USD bank accounts.· Maintenance of accurate payments filing to assist with project audits


· Using online payment systems to move money within strict deadlines


· Completing reports related to payment reviews – payment errors and delays log.


· Dealing with associate related payment queries


· Building and maintaining relationships with payment agents.


About You


A member of the Finance Team should have the ability to build effective relationships with internal customers/external providers and to work effectively in a challenging environment. He/she should relish working in a team, should be detailed, energetic, positive, and genuinely committed to achieving lasting change in their work.


Adam Smith International seeks the following skills and experience:


· Relevant experience and proven track record in a corporate, highly professional environment – ideally international consultancy.


· Must have previous SWIFT and BACS payments processing experience.


· Impeccable attention to detail is essential.


· Strong computer and numerical literacy. Advanced excel user.· Organised and able to adhere to deadlines.


· High standard of communication.


· Proactive, self-starter and resourceful


· Ability to cope under pressure.


· Good work ethic and a drive to develop.


· High level of emotional intelligence.


· Resilient to changing circumstances.
