United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Refugee Crisis in Europe Volunteer

Al-Khair Foundation are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed volunteers to join our team as we are helping the Refugees in the European crisis.

Al-Khair Foundation is a UK registered charity working to deliver humanitarian and development projects worldwide. Founded in 2003, Al-Khair provides emergency aid, medical care, education and livelihood support to vulnerable communities in the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and is committed to supporting these groups to become sustainable active citizens in their society.

The conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan, and abuses in Eritrea, have forced many to flee their lands and look for safety, security and a better future. From January-August 2015, more than 350,000 migrants were detected at the EU’s borders. The Al – Khair Foundation are providing emergency relief to the refugees in Europe struggling to survive while they await their fate. We have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to help us to look after these vulnerable people.

What does it involve?

The Volunteer placement will last one month, and this will include 5-7 days of travelling to Europe to help on the ground. The locations where we will/have projects are: Lesbos, Greece/Macedonia Border, Macedonia/ Serbia border, Serbia/ Hungry Border, Hungary/ Austria Border and the Austria/ Germany Border. The other 3 weeks will be volunteering in one of our UK offices where you will be raising awareness about the refugee crisis, involved in mobilising other volunteers, assisting the office in organising support. Ideal Candidate

We are looking for people with various backgrounds but with a proven interest in humanitarian work. They would need to be independent, make decisions with little guidance, and flexible. They need to be hardworking, proactive and have great communication skills. Also, be adaptable and culturally sensitive to others.
