About the Public Sector Governance team


The team provides high quality advice globally to governments seeking to enhance governance of the public sector through centre of government reform, civil service reform, anti-corruption, sub-national governance, external accountability, public financial management, health and education. We work with government institutions to implement public sector governance projects in some of the world’s most dynamic and challenging countries including Afghanistan, Palestine, Somalia, Syria, Liberia and Sierra Leone.


About the role


Project Managers perform a key role in Adam Smith International’s consulting model and play a central part in managing project technical and financial performance. Similarly, a member of the Professional Development Scheme will also perform project management activities, collaborating with, supporting and learning from more experienced Project Managers in the team. A member of the Professional Development Scheme will also support and prepare technical and financial proposals and expressions of interest. The position will be based in London but may require extensive travel in Africa and Asia.


About you


You should be confident and capable in leading business development activities and converting these into new work. You potentially bring established relationships with donor organisations and freelance associates.


You will bring some knowledge and expertise in the health sector and will have the ability to build effective relationships with clients from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds, and to work effectively in politically sensitive and challenging environments. You will relish working in a team and will be innovative, energetic, positive, and genuinely committed to achieving lasting change in your work.


Adam Smith International seeks the following skills and experience:


· A post-graduate degree from a top-tier university;


· A minimum of five to seven years of relevant government or private sector experience in the health area of public sector governance;


· Experience of managing teams;


· Experience or proven desirability of working in developing countries;


· Demonstrable experience working in complex and time-pressured contexts;


· Proven abilities to identify, develop and win new opportunities;


· Outstanding English written and oral communication skills with additional languages;


· Excellent inter-personal skills and team-work;


· Strong attention to detail;


· Enthusiasm and flexibility along with a willingness to travel at short notice and work in developing countries for a significant time;


· Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio;


· You must be eligible to work in UK.
