United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Head of Policy Advocacy


RESULTS is seeking an experienced development expert to lead our Policy Advocacy Team. This is a busy post, managing the work of around 7 technical expert staff and overseeing the policy positions of RESULTS UK on our key themes of global health, nutrition, education and jobs.


The post-holder will manage the policy advisors and ensure the production of high-quality policy output for use by the rest of the organisation; will lead policy engagement with global development organisations (such as DFID, the World Bank, EC, GFATM, Gavi etc) will determine the strategic focus of the policy team; and will oversee funding proposals and the gradual expansion of the portfolio. S/he will also take responsibility for being an issue-area expert on at least one of our themes, and will grow the reputation of RESULTS through writing and speaking at events. Globally, they will work strategically as part of RESULTS network, and the ACTION global health advocacy partnership, to mobilise greater resources and political commitment for development, and will develop and deepen our relationships with partners in the global South.


Reporting to the director, the Head of Team is also a key part of the RESULTS management team of four, who together determine the strategic direction of the organisation.


This role is suitable for an excellent manager able to balance a busy and constantly evolving workload. Applicants should have substantial policy advocacy, research or public affairs experience, and understand the way that policy decisions impact global poverty and want to influence these decisions. Experience with the UK or EC parliament or grassroots campaigning would be advantageous and a background in global education or health, or livelihoods would also be a benefit.
