Hours per week : 0.60 FTE



We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced person to the Applied Mental Health Team. You will have a clear track record of excellence in practice and will have worked as an AMHP and BIA. You will have significant experience of teaching and training and will ideally have worked in higher education before. You will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the teaching involved in applied mental health. This is predominantly on the Postgraduate Certificate in Approved Mental Health Professional Practice and the MSc in Applied Mental Health. You will also be expected to make a significant contribution to the CPD associated with the Best Interest Assessment Unit. You will play a significant role in all of the associated aspects of the Applied Mental Health team, including liaison with partners and sponsors. We are looking for someone with the energy and drive who can contribute to new developments and the extension of the work of the team. You will have experience of working creatively and innovatively.


You will be involved in the following:


  • Teaching across all of the academic units and contributing to the preparation and delivery of CPD.

  • Assessing all academic work including designing assessments, marking and moderating them.

  • The evaluation and quality assurance of all academic work on a yearly cycle.

  • Liaison and development work with sponsors and partners, including local authorities, NHS Trusts and other higher education institutions.

  • Providing pastoral and academic support to all students on the programme, including acting as practice tutor to students on placement

  • Working to identify and develop new opportunities for CPD and partnership working.

  • Working within the context of the Institute of Brain, Behaviour and Mental Health and contributing to the Faculty where appropriate.
