The RNLI is committed to maintaining a high quality programme of research that helps us to achieve our aim of saving more lives from drowning. If you are motivated by providing decision makers with access to accurate, relevant and timely analysis, this could be the role for you. We are looking for an experienced and dedicated individual to join the RNLI’s Operations Research Unit (ORU) on a permanent basis, working as an embedded member of the International value stream. Drawing on your experience of monitoring and evaluating international development projects, you will be required to identify the information requirements of our internal customers, develop existing frameworks, manage evaluations and design systems which capture data from our projects. You will also need to communicate outputs, outcomes and impact to internal stakeholders so that the RNLI can improve it’s international programme.
The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, with strong inter-personal skills. You will need to be able to distil monitoring and evaluation theory into usable tools that can be applied by project staff from the RNLI and partner organisations. You will need practical experience in developing innovative ways of verifying indicators, using both quantitative and qualitative techniques. As a confident analyst and communicator, you will be able to clearly identify the resources and stages of work needed to deliver monitoring and evaluation in a proportionate and pragmatic manner. You will relish a challenge and be able to develop innovative ways to gather vital information from remote projects in low-resource environments.
In return, you’ll join a diverse team working on projects in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia and have the opportunity to work closely with members of the RNLI’s International Programmes and Fundraising teams. The ORU is also committed to ongoing professional development for analysts, including the development of both technical and management skills. We also operate a range of different working arrangements for our analysts and welcome applications to work flexibly.
We have been bringing people together to save lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. Our staff and volunteers continue to make a real difference and we rely on the diversity of their skills, background and perspectives to successfully deliver our lifesaving service. We are committed to being an inclusive organisation and welcome applications for all our roles from everyone; all we look for in our applicants are the skills we need and a willingness to share our commitment to preventing loss of life at sea.
