NIHR Maudsley BRC/U Post-doctoral Research Fellow


The NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre and Dementia Unit (BRC/U) invites applications from outstanding early career mental health researchers wishing to establish themselves with a research project team working in translational and experimental medicine. The fellowship will allow the time for the post-holder to apply for their first full fellowship grant whilst based with a research team at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN).  The exact location of the post will depend on the particular project and supervisory team that candidates apply to work with. 


Details:
The NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre has successfully supported preparatory fellows to apply for doctoral funding and now wishes to extend the scheme to those who have recently submitted or are just about to submit their PhD thesis, and those who have recently been awarded their PhD. 


To apply for this post candidates must meet one of the following criteria:


  1. In the final stages of writing up and intending to submit their thesis within 3 months of the closing date of this call

  2. Have submitted their thesis

  3. Have passed their viva and been awarded their PhD within the past 12 months

Applicants must approach potential project leads and agree a position with the team prior to applying for the post.

The exact location of the post will depend on the particular project and supervisory team that candidates apply to work with. 


Post duration:
Fixed term contract for maximum 12 months. This fellowship must end on or before 31st March 2017.


Salary:
The award will cover full salary costs at KCL salary Grade 5 (Grade 6 upon post-holder’s receipt of their doctoral certificate) and can include up to £10k non-pay contribution towards consumables, training and conference attendance.
