Registration Officer - Camden Council - Camden Town

Camden’s registration service needs you !

Camden registration services are looking to recruit a registration officer to perform the statutory duties and responsibilities of a Registrar of marriages, as agreed by the General Register Office and Home Office. You will be required to register births, still births and deaths in the borough and conduct civil marriages, civil partnerships, same sex marriages and citizenship ceremonies.


You will be expected to undertake non-statutory duties including checking and submitting application forms to the Home Office and collecting fees as Level one Immigration Advisors on behalf of Camden for the Nationality and Settlement Checking Service .


You will provide general office administration support including duplicate certificate production and reception cover which includes processing payments and dealing with customer enquiries.


This role will require the post holder to work Saturday’s and Sunday’s on a rota basis and be ‘on call’ on some Sunday’s and bank holiday’s for the out-of-hours burial service on a rota basis.


Skills & experience: We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated and works well as part of a team – you should have 5 GCSE’s grade A-C, be computer literate and have an understanding of relevant legislation relating to registration services. You must have experience in dealing with the public both face to face and over the phone as well as in writing, have first class communication skills and the ability to be empathetic with people dealing with an emotional situation. You must be confident in public speaking and have an organised methodical approach to work.


This role requires you to work within the procedures and guidelines set by the Registrar General, the Home Office and the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner and therefore must have excellent attention to detail.
