Article 25 is one of the world’s leading architectural aid charity that designs, manages, and delivers projects in countries affected by disaster, poverty, and need.


We give people access to clean water, toilets, and new or improved homes, as well as schools and hospital care. Recently, we merged with ARCHIVE Global in the US, which was named ‘one of the 8 best sustainability organisations in the world’ – Forbes.


Article 25 is currently seeking an experienced, innovative Operations Director to oversee the day to day running of our office. In a small but fast-paced organisation, this role will include a wide range of responsibilities, including recruitment of staff, as well as being a key point of contact for the organisation, internally and externally.


Article 25 is an NGO team of professionals designing built solutions in post-disaster and post-war locations throughout the world. Projects include:


  • Refurbishment of Yangon General Hospital

  • Post-earthquake school reconstruction, Haiti.

  • Children’s hospital in Morocco.

  • Prototype Child Friendly School, Burkina Faso.

  • Earthquake resistant housing construction, Pakistan.

Roles and Responsibilities


  • First point of contact for general enquiries in and outside the organisation.

  • Willing to serve as global representative of the organization.

  • Number 2 senior management staff in the organisation.

  • Leading alongside the MD – who was named ‘one of Britain’s top 40 under 40 leaders in international development’.

The right candidate will have solid management experience with a proven ability to manage a diverse workload with often conflicting priorities. She/He will be able to work independently, assume ownership of their work, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will need to be flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic office environment and have strong problem-solving abilities. More than anything, she/he will have a passion for helping those most in need – while being able to enjoy your work and those you work with – everyday.


Organisational Management


  • Keep the MD and trustees up to date on the financial state of the charity and to assist in preparing cash/income forecasts.

  • Along with the MD, lead the cultivation of partner organisations, donors, and supporters.

  • Assist in leading the organization’s internal and external events.

  • Oversee all internal operations.

  • Along with the MD, lead development of the organisation’s strategic growth plan (SGP).

  • Lead on implementation of SGP.

Financial Planning & Budget Management


  • Managing the day to day financial needs of the organisation’s operation.

  • Supporting both the Treasurer and Managing Director in preparing financial information and reports.

Human Resources Management


  • Assist in leading the recruitment of all staff.

  • Maintain high standards of conduct in the organisation.

Requirements:


  • 7+ years experience, incl. 3+ years in management.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.

  • Experience in non-profit desired, but not required.

  • Strategic/Design Thinker

  • Ability to travel internationally – if necessary.
