Commercial Credit Manager




Leading business in the peer to peer finance industry requires an ambitious and talented Commercial Credit Manager who will help develop a small but rapidly expanding team, who are focussed on new lending requests from SME’s. This is a front office function and therefore you must have excellent communication skills and ability to ask the necessary questions and obtain the required information. This role is very exacting and therefore time management skills are paramount. Your ability to assess, challenge and formulate proposals using judgment is key to the success of this role.


Responsibilities include:


• Ensure all processes undertaken are in compliance with agreed company policy.


• Provide input into ongoing improvement of Process Policy.


• Ensure agreed SLA’s are exceeded at all times.


• Review all assigned SME lending proposals for submission to either Head of Commercial Credit or Commercial Credit Committee.


• Review assigned Real Estate lending proposals submitted from Business Development Department for submission to either Head of Commercial Credit or Commercial Credit Committee.


• Liaise with borrower/broker to request required information to undertake a full review of proposal received.


• Undertake meetings/telephone interviews with customers as required to progress loan application.


• Undertake a full assessment of the proposal including research and verification.


• Credit Proposal paper to be formulated for each lending request.


• Prepare/issue documentation for issue to customer on approval of loan proposal.


• Monitor receipt of accepted documentation.


• Proactively liaise with professional panel as required during drawdown process.


• Proactive contact maintained with borrower during process.


• Ensure that approvals monitor is maintained as up to date at all times.


• Maintain updated loan drawdown progress monitor at all times.


• Ensure all new/enhanced loan information is captured.


• Undertake covenant monitoring of existing loan facilities as requested.


• Assist with maintenance of covenant monitoring schedule as required/requested.


• Market/promote the company where appropriate.


• Assist with business development initiatives as required


Skills and experience:


• Highly motivated and an optimist, you will have exceptional people management skills, and be able to bring your technical and analytical skills to the role.


• Working knowledge and proven experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.


• Strong background in commercial credit, underwriting and process management


• Degree educated with a minimum of a 2.1 or equivalent experience


• A confident and articulated communicator
