Field Based role covering Southern England, Kent, Greater London, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Wilshire, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Avon, Berkshire, Oxfordshire
Our client is a global multinational specialising in the supply and rental of logistics assets and equipment to the FMCG national grocery retailing and fresh produce supplier sector. They are currently seeking a graduate calibre National Account Manager to cover the Southern UK region. You will have a service and solutions focus, project management skills and an interest in long term, sustainable joint business plans.
The role is field based so you can live anywhere in the region with the South close to the M25/M1/M40/M3/M4 as the majority of accounts are in these areas and it is unlikely that you will visit each account every week or month. You will be working with national grocery retailer accounts and fresh produce suppliers/growers ranging from SME’s to larger multinational groups. This will entail interfacing, relationship building and commercial negotiations with customers ranging from owner directors to senior executives and regional logistics, supply chain and operations managers of major grocery retailers and fresh produce growers and suppliers.
The main purpose of the role is to manage the primary relationship between our client and its grocery retail and fresh produce suppliers through regular face to face meetings to ensure optimum equipment asset control and supply, excellent customer service and to maximise growth opportunities.
You will be responsible for executing our client’s business strategy as well as developing as implementing specific account plans. Key objectives of the role are to protect existing customer issues and recollections, meet business growth targets and increase customer satisfaction.
The Role:
- Manage our client’s relationship across a portfolio of national customer accounts
- Work alongside the relevant Account Directors to formulate a business plan for each customer account to protect and grow the account in order to meet and exceed annual targets.
- Identification and conversion of growth opportunities.
- Develop and implement joint strategic plans with key customers addressing topics such as growth, cost reduction, sustainability and ease of business.
- Drive improved customer satisfaction and engagement via customer satisfaction surveys.
- Manage commercial relationships with customers
- Establish a customer map and maintain relationships at all levels with customers in your portfolio managing the interface between our client and the customer.
- Taking ownership of and responsibility for the strategic development for product and service enhancements through a network of contacts in the customer’s supply chain.
- Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction through a consistent service via targeted customer visits in line with company and customer expectations.
The Person:
- Graduate calibre/university degree educated.
- Proven experience of working in a customer facing Account Management within a grocery retail focused organisation. This experience may have been gained in a FMCG manufacturer, fresh produce supplier or grower or third party logistics services provider.
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills operating at a senior management level within own and customer organisations.
- A history of delivering year on year growth via new business successes.
- Experience of managing internal/customer projects.
- Strong project management skills.
- An understanding of the retail and/or manufacturing into grocery retailer supply chain.
- High levels of numeracy and literacy.
- Structured and disciplined individual who is comfortable with detail and can work well under pressure.
- Excellent time management skills
- Computer literate – SalesForce CRM, Excel, Powerpoint
- Confident and well presented, with well-developed interpersonal skills such as persuasion, influencing and negotiation.
- Presentation Skills – Capable in presenting commercial proposals.
