Robinson Harding Ltd are currently looking for a Paralegal to join our client’s Court of Protection department in London on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Department
The Court of Protection is the judicial body in England and Wales responsible for managing the affairs, assets and estates of anyone who does not have capacity to manage their own finances.
The team has a strong reputation in dealing with the full range of Court of Protection services including deputyship services, gifts, Enduring & Lasting Powers of Attorney and replacing deputyships with private trusts. Our client has dedicated departments located in Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and London that provide a specialist nationwide service. This team based approach means they work with colleagues to combine legal expertise from financial management, planning, investment, taxation and returns to the Court.
The Role
As a Paralegal, you’ll assist with case handling duties, working under supervision to help to progress high value and demanding cases. This is a busy and challenging role, where duties are diverse and no two days are the same. You’ll liaise regularly with a wide range of clients and medical professionals, in person and over the phone and in writing. Whether arranging meetings, seeking medical reports, chasing information, or interviewing witnesses; you’ll need to show a sensitive and professional approach at all times.
You’ll be carrying out various tasks such as research, and preparation and drafting of legal documents within set guidelines. You will meet with clients and witnesses for the preparation of witness statements and you will be responsible for instructing medical experts. To meet your monthly targets you’ll need to be experienced in multi-tasking and keeping to tight deadlines. Whilst planning and prioritising will be the key to your success, you’ll also need to be flexible and quick to respond to requests at short notice. You’ll be experienced in working under supervision, but with the ability and confidence to use your own judgement where required.
Candidates must have previous legal experience, ideally within Court of Protection, and a good standard of education. Applicants who have completed the LPC, but are not necessarily looking for a training contract would be considered as would candidates with a law degree, ILEX qualifications or post graduate legal qualification.
