Research Assistant: Mentalization for Offending Adult Males (MOAM)


Hours: 35 hours per week


Usual working hours 09.00 to 17.00, Monday to Friday, some evening work may be required for which toil will be given


Salary: £23,000 to £25,000 per annum depending on experience, plus 6% contributory pension scheme


The Anna Freud Centre supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues.


We are recruiting a full-time Research Assistant for a large scale randomised control trial (RCT). This trial will compare Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) with other services currently offered by probation, to adult male offenders with a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) living in the community.


We are looking for applicants with a good first degree (2.i or higher) in Psychology or relevant discipline, with previous experience of conducting assessments/interviewing participants. The ability to manage the input of a range of individuals and groups is essential. Advanced IT skills, particularly database management and excellent communication skills are also essential. This role requires flexibility and willingness to conduct interviews in evenings (time off in lieu will be given).


University College London (UCL) runs several collaborative projects with the AFC. The employer for the post is the AFC; the post-holder will be based at UCL, 1-19 Torrington Place, London WC1 7HB
