Shrinkage & Compliance Manager
Location: Field Based – South Wales / Cotswolds / South West geographical areas.
The Role
As a Shrinkage & Compliance Manager you will provide assurance to Senior Management regarding the management of shrinkage within Argos Stores at Area level and other related business areas when required.
As a Shrinkage & Compliance Manager your main responsibilities will be to:
Complete, plan and conduct shrinkage management activity regarding the overall management of shrinkage within Stores. The main objective being to verify overall operational performance and identify / minimise areas of risk and unidentified shrinkage within the business.
Provide both high level and detailed information (when required) and guidance around business risk by reviewing key information collated internally via a number of sources in addition to those within the department.
Ensure the capabilities, integrity and processes are in place to provide a view on store shrinkage, store process disconnects and store systems reporting by giving clear and concise direction to area & store management.
Manage a team (within a defined budget) of internal store stock counters within the store environment in order to assist stores in achieving improved levels of balance accuracy / stock file integrity which in turn will increase our customer offer and serviceability. During such activity, drive development of store colleagues to support longer term success.
Introduce new strategies and initiatives that will deliver improved efficiency, reduction in shrinkage and improved customer service across the store estate.
Provide continuous support to the store operations team in driving through store change programmes. As a recognised business expert on shrinkage management and store processes, the job holder is tasked with reviewing changes and recommending / advising on best implementation methods that may require a clear reporting methodology or system changes.
Provide ad hoc support to both Store & Distribution Operations in a variety of methods that often requires quick decision making amidst complex issues. An example being supporting stores following a major incident which could impact on sales and other financial reporting if not dealt with in a clear and decisive manner but also allows for accurate data capture / recovery.
Provide communication to all stakeholders regarding matters relating to Shrinkage within Area Operations and help land general education in line with function, business objectives / transformation.
Ability to identify potential malpractice or fraud and subsequently manage the situation with total confidentiality, securing relevant evidence & cascading to the appropriate team as necessary for further investigation (e.g. National Investigations).
As a Shrinkage & Compliance Manager your skills & experience will ideally include:
Educated to Degree / A level or Part Qualified Accountant level.
Substantial experience working in a Retail / Distribution environment, with extensive experience in an operational role involving shrinkage management.
Good leadership & influencing skills as well as high levels of tenacity and integrity to deliver supportive direction to area & store management is essential.
Being able to work at Pace with tight deadlines.
Experience of dealing with all levels of management and ability to influence people over whom there is no direct authority.
Man-management skills and high levels of inter-personnel skills is required, as often the initial response to critical information is hostile, being able to manage these situations is a necessity
