Fixed Term Contract for 2 years

We are looking for a natural leader to join us in the new and pivotal Director of Operations role that will have primary responsibility for the ongoing effective operational performance of Elrha. You will also lead the operational planning, transition and execution of a new business model fit for future growth and the long-term sustainability of our organisation.

Elrha is a hosted organisation at Save the Children UK, dedicated to driving global action on humanitarian research and innovation and to supporting partnerships between researchers and practitioners to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian response. Since its establishment in 2009, Elrha has experienced significant growth in organisational size, reach and in our funding base. 2016 will see Elhra introduce a new strategic framework and business model to ensure the effective delivery of our strategic objectives. This will require a complete review of our current business model and service arrangements.

As our Director of Operations you will lead the organisational review and profile the business to identify current and future needs, opportunities and risks. You will also review the options for the legal status of the organisation and make an evidenced recommendation for the ‘best-fit’ legal-status in-line with the new business model. In addition you will:

· Work alongside the Director to ensure the delivery of the strategy and the objectives of the business on time and within budget

· Ensure the appropriate application of legal frameworks and processes throughout the organisation and monitor and manage compliance to legal commitments with funding partners both up and down-stream

· Provide consistent, robust and expert operational grant management advice to the Director, Senior Management colleagues and Board

· Develop a close working relationship with the existing key relationships within SCUK

· Drive the development and implementation of financial and accounting policies and processes for the future Elrha as appropriate for its new legal structure.

To be successful you will be an influential, strong and driven leader with extensive experience in senior operational delivery roles and experience of developing, delivering and monitoring operational strategy and business development. You will be motivated by a passion for improving humanitarian outcomes and will have a clear understanding of the role of research and innovation to achieve that objective. In addition you will have:

· Experience in the analysis and monitoring of complex budget and financial management information

· An understanding of the particular processes and controls required for working within an internal grant-making organisation

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to a broad range of people internally and externally including non-financial specialists

· An awareness of company secretarial, legal and tax issues relating to companies and ideally charities

· Extensive experience of leadership and management at a senior level.

If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we’ll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
