United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Project Manager - Learning Content


Part Time – 3 days a week


2 year fixed term contract.


We are seeking a Learning Content Project Manager to join us and ensure a supply of high quality, relevant learning content on the Kaya platform, the Humanitarian Leadership Academy’s flagship online product. This will include standalone content, online learning pathways and blended learning pathways.


The mission of the Humanitarian Leadership Academy is to empower people around the world to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. The Academy works with the humanitarian sector and new partners from the technology industry, private sector and universities to help communities become more resilient in the face of disaster and give them the training and skills to respond to crises in their own countries.


The Academy through its network of global Centres and partners will offer learning in-person and online, through learning pathways that blend both types together. Online learning will be offered through the Academy’s learning platform, called ‘Kaya’. The Academy works on an ‘aggregate first, build last’ basis, bringing together existing content from partner organisations and content providers, and only creating new content where it is needed. New content is created in partnership with subject matter experts from the relevant organisations.


As Learning Content Project Manager you will work with the partnerships team to identify organisations to co-create relevant learning content in response to emerging humanitarian needs and/or partner or learner feedback. You will coordinate the process of translating and contextualising content working with Academy Centres, translators and developers, to ensure all content is presented accurately on the Kaya platform in the appropriate languages to ensure online learning content is available to all existing and potential users. In addition you will:


To be successful you will be an organised, driven and flexible individual with experience of successfully managing multi-stakeholder projects in a charity or NGO context. You will have strong project and contract management experience, with the ability to manage various project strands simultaneously ensuring that targets are met within the timeframe and budget set. Whilst no specific development skills are required, you must be confident in acting as mediator between technical and non-technical teams and have familiarity with managing online content. You will also have:


  • A hands-on, initiative-led approach with confidence and intellect to challenge conventional thinking and ways of working

  • The ability to manage financial information relating to project budgets, query inaccuracies and present this information in an understandable and appropriate way

  • Strong written communication skills, particularly online

  • Good inter-personal and relationship building skills

  • A strong attention to detail when handling information

  • Substantial levels of personal resilience to operate in highly complex environment.

Fluency in French and/or Arabic is highly desirable.
