Financial Controller - Costain - E3 4HL




Position Description

Lead, manage and develop the finance function on the contract, providing quality & accurate financial information to the Commercial & Operational teams to ensure accurate reporting of the financial position of the project.


Key Aims


• To improve the monthly reporting and forecasting of the results of the contract.
• To establish a good working relationship with Commercial and Operational teams on the contract, and raise the profile of finance within the Rail Sector.
• To maintain a high level of financial controls, in line with Group guidelines, ensuring all applicable requirements can be met at all times.
• To aid the development & performance of finance team members.


Responsibilities


• Support and improve the preparation & review of the Contract Leaders Report (CLR) to ensure it adequately reflects the status of the contract.
• Ensure the cash book, accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger books of entry & processes are administered in a timely manner.
• Maintain and prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis.
• Attend and participate in all Financial & Commercial monthly review meetings as required.
• Take the lead in client audits, helping minimise disallowable/ fee based costs and improve cash flow.
• Support the monitoring of contract results against tender budget and forecast, identifying the major factors causing material differences.
• Ensure robust payment controls are in place which adhere to JV Partners guidelines.
• Work with commercial & operational teams to achieve greater collaboration at project level, thereby raising the profile of finance.
• Work with JV partners to improve the quality of Finance Partner invoicing to minimise disallowable costs and improve transparency of charging.


Required Experience

• Experience gained in a project environment, preferably in construction or engineering.
• Qualfied accountant with a recognised professional body (preferably ACA)
• Good communication skills.
• A “can do”, problem solving attitude with an attention to detail that ensures a high quality of output is delivered in a timely fashion.
• Demonstrable ability to form effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
• Joint Venture Accounting Experience (desirable).
• Team management experience.

Site Description

Contract C360 comprises the construction of intermediate shafts at Eleanor Street, Mile End Park, Stepney Green and Limmo Peninsula. The shafts will provide ventilation, maintenance access, emergency egress & emergency services access of the operating railway.
