Senior Research Associate

This post will be Fixed Term for 2 years.

This is a Full-time post, although it is also feasible for applicants who are interested in a part-time position (minimum 0.5 FTE).

PSYSCAN (“Translating neuroimaging findings from research into clinical practice”) is a 6-year research programme funded by the European Union. It is designed to develop tools that can be used to predict clinical outcomes in the early phase of psychosis.

PSYSCAN involves a consortium of 20 research institutes academic centres in London, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Galway, Utrecht, Maastricht, Melbourne, Santander, Madrid, Gottingen, Vienna, Marburg, Amsterdam, Rome, Zurich, Tel Hashomer, Seoul, Sao Paolo, Hong Kong, Toronto and Copenhagen, plus industrial partners with expertise in this area, including IXICO and Cambridge Cognition. The project is now in its third year and prospective data collection has started across the Consortium.

The aim of the programme is to develop a tool that will allow clinicians to use neuroimaging and other biomarkers to predict outcomes in individuals who are either at ultra high risk for psychosis, or have recently developed a first episode of psychosis.

We would like to appoint a Senior Research Associate for PSYSCAN, to work closely with the Project Coordinator and the Work Package leaders to facilitate the integration of scientific activities across the academic and industrial groups in the consortium. The appointee will also have the opportunity to carry out their own research work, the focus of which can reflect their particular interests.

The successful candidate will be educated to PhD level or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. neuroimaging, psychosis, or similar), with a strong academic record. They will have excellent organisational skills including proven experience of setting and achieving milestones. They will have the ability to develop strong working relationships with research partners. Experience of study coordination and working on a multi-centre study is desirable.

The selection process will include competency based questions and a panel interview.

Interviews are scheduled to be held shortly after the closing date.
