Job Title:                             Lead Credit Risk Analyst– SAS/SQL – London

Our client requires a Lead Analyst – Risk Strategy to join their team in London, and maintain a detailed understanding of products, credit policy and strategies.

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Analyst to move to the next level in a role which will offer cover for the Head of department.

The Lead Analyst will: 

– Review existing strategies to ensure the business is insulated against risks and adheres to internal policy and external regulation.
– Seek continuous improvement for all credit decisions
– Operate a robust test and learn approach; develop tests based on clear analysis / hypotheses, set clear performance expectations, monitor, adjust accordingly
– Rigorously monitor aggregate and marginal performance against targets and hurdles (i.e. NPV, risk-adjusted yield, return on equity, loss rate); assessing actual/expected performance and value
– Develop and maintain lifetime profitability models for this purpose, liaising with finance to ensure components and comparables appropriately aligned
– Provide input to business forecasting / budgeting processes (portfolio size / composition / losses)
– Develop regular insightful MI reporting
– Ad hoc analysis / investigation into portfolio /segment performance
– Support the selection and execution processes for existing customer strategies
– Ensure clear documentation and commented code in place for all tools and processes
– Present analysis and credit proposals to Senior Management (including at Credit Committee)
– Develop/maintain effective relationships as below

Candidate Profile

– 5 years’ relevant analytic experience in personal / retail financial services
– 3 years’ on new account acquisition and / or customer line management
– Extensive programming, database extraction and reporting experience preferably using SAS/SQL
– Expertise in profitability modelling and financial analysis
– Working with / presenting to senior managers
– Working knowledge of UK bureau data
