We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who will creatively engage with and support young women
in London who are at risk of sexual exploitation, gang association or involved in violent offending. These young women will require a skilled practitioner who has a solid understanding of trauma and its impact, and who understand the vulnerabilities and risks associated with sexual exploitation, gang involvement and offending behaviour. We are looking for someone who has experience of engaging young people through innovative and flexible methods.
You will use your engagement skills, professional knowledge and person centred approach to ensure young women’s needs are met and make a real difference to their lives.
This service will be delivered in a number of London Borough’s where we are already delivering services. The project is delivered in partnership between The Children’s Society and nia and draws on shared practice and support to effectively deliver this service.
Purpose
Our project aims to support young women to receive a gender informed program that aims to reduce risk and enable them to make informed choices. We aim to support young women to be better protected from harm, develop the understanding and life skills they need to recognise risks in relation to sexual exploitation, gang association and offending and to achieve improved
emotional wellbeing and engagement with support networks.
This is delivered through intensive one to one and group work with young women where there is an identified risk or need in relation to sexual exploitation, gang association and offending.
This will take place in a variety of settings in the community and within custody. This role will focus primarily on delivering group work to young women using both socio-educative approaches and also delivering focus groups to create a space for young women to share their views and wishes about what young women need from services.
Key Accountabilities

- To work in partnership with families and carers, police, children’s services, education and other relevant voluntary and statutory agencies to ensure the project’s development both locally and nationally, through regular communication and good working relationships.
- To contribute to a multi-agency approach to effective interventions with young women, including delivering training to a range of professionals.
