You will be working within a dynamic specialist team which includes world-class Consultants from renowned London teaching hospitals. You will be working on the 16 bed Oncology ward which has a nurse:patient ratio of 3:1. Job Description

As a Staff Nurse in the Oncology department, you will provide a high level of care for patients by assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care. Within a supported working environment you will be responsible and accountable for your own practice within the clinical area and for delivering a quality service at all times. Additionally, you will be expected to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and supervising where necessary.

Salary: £31,086 – £35,206 + 9% shift enhancement

Hours: Full time, shifts on internal rotation, including weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver care, based on individual patient and family needs


• Provide patients and families with information regarding the care and management of their condition


• Assist as required in nurse led clinics


• Organise tests and appointments both within and outside the hospital


• Respect and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality


• Communicate and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team


• Demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions


• Recognise and take appropriate action in emergency situations


• Maintenance of accurate records


• All ad hoc nursing duties as required by senior staff, including potential deputising for seniors in their absence

Skills & Experience

• RGN, NMC registered with PIN


• Experience in Phlebotomy, Cannulation, CVAD access and Chemotherapy administrations will be advantageous, alternatively training will be offered to develop your skills


• Experience of either solid tumour oncology or haemato-oncology would be highly desirable


• Be working towards, or possess a specialist clinical qualification


• Confident communicator with high levels of written and spoken English


• Working knowledge of IT systems, such as the Microsoft Office suite
