An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit for a Head of Student Counselling and Mental Health Service; based in the Department of Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD).
The Head of the Student Counselling and Mental Health Service will lead a multidisciplinary team of student counsellors and mental health specialists providing a wide range of psychological services and interventions to students alongside offering institutional support to staff.
Responsibilities:
The post holder will: manage, coordinate and develop the work of the Student Counselling and Mental Health Service and ensure that the needs of students engaging with the Services are met at an individual and institutional level; use expertise to embed student mental health good practice at an instituional level; work closely with the Head of Learning Success to sustain and develop multidisciplary work.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have a Postgraduate qualification in counselling/counselling psychology/psychotherapy and be registered/accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy/UKCP/BPS.
You will have substantial counselling and leadership experience in the sector and be able to demonstrate a commitment to student counselling and mental health. You will be willing to meet the challenge of increasing demands within limited resources.
You will demonstrate a high level of competence in dealing with severe emotional problems, crisis intervention and group work and commitment to institutional work and an appreciation of the complexity of working within the sector.
