Research Associate


Part Time: 21.9 Hours per week (60% fte)


The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. 


The postholder will be required to take day-to-day responsibility for the running of the research project and will: assist in designing research instruments and in data collection, liaise with and visit schools to undertake pilot work and case studies, process and analyse survey, interview and case study data, supervise, train and support research assistants, and assist the co-directors in the communication of the results through the preparation of reports, journal articles, research briefings and at conferences for different audiences.


The appointment will be part-time and is available from September 1st 2016 to December 31st 2017.


Candidates should have obtained, or be near to obtaining, a PhD in a relevant discipline (psychology, education, social science). Strong backgrounds are essential in: designing and conducting surveys and/or semi-structured interviews and observations in primary and secondary schools; in managing and analysing large data sets; in liaising with school staff, children and young people; and, in writing research reports.
