Millbank is the home of the ITV News’ political unit and we have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Production Specialist to join the team. As our Trainee Production Specialist you will provide technical support for Operational Engineers, Newsroom and management, as well as the external clients who use Millbank’s services and facilities. You will be working as a member of a small, well established team who will offer support and advice when needed.

You will receive lots of on-the-job training and will be exposed to a wide range of technical activities across the ITV News Group. The role is therefore ideal for someone starting out on a career in broadcasting, following a suitable higher education qualification.

You will have a knowledge and appreciation of current broadcast technologies. Experience in broadcasting would be an advantage but no essential. You will be highly motivated, personable and have the ability to work as part of a team while not being afraid to make decisions when needed, often in high pressure situations. As our Technical Trainee you will be dealing with clients on a face-to-face basis every day so you will need to be confident and outgoing in your nature. An interest in politics, though not essential, would be beneficial.

You will be expected, after an initial period of training, to fit in with our regular shift patterns when needed to cover all aspects of the service. The needs of the service demand flexibility and a willingness to react to daily changing needs. ITV Millbank as our centre of politics news gathering, covers ITV News as well as external clients needs from Daybreak through to the end of News at Ten through out the week, and at times, the weekend too!
