Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Special Educational Needs


The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8-9. The salary range will be Grade 8:  £41,844 – £49,362 per annum and Grade 9: £53,650 – £58,337 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.


The Department of Psychology and Human Development has a particular focus on special educational needs, child and adolescent development and offers the largest coherent group of psychologists in the UK working in this area. We have Centres in:


Autism Education (CRAE); Education in the Criminal Justice System (CECJS); Educational Neuroscience (CEN), and; Language, Literacy and Numeracy (CLLNR).


The postholder will teach on our MA Special and Inclusive Education and other BSc and Masters sessions as appropriate, and contribute to course development and leadership. Contributing to our curriculum and programme development, assisting with student recruitment and pastoral care. The postholder will participate in our advancement of scholarship in the field, through publications and other research activity, at a level of national and/or international significance.


The appointment will be full time and is available from the 1st September 2016.


The postholder will provide evidence of teaching and research specialisms in psychology/ special educational needs/inclusion. Applications will be welcomed from those with strengths in the areas of language, literacy and/or numeracy, their educational application and implications for inclusion. The postholder will have the ability to teach successfully at higher education level. The postholder should have relevant experience in developing funded research projects and background knowledge in Scholarships including peer-reviewed publications.


The postholder needs to provide significant evidence of track record of working effectively with others, co-operating with colleagues and helping the team achieve its goals, with experience of leading and managing a team.
