Accounts Assistant




A fast-growing accountancy practice in the City of London is looking for a full-time Accounts Assistant to support the accounting department with accounts preparation and bookkeeping for the firm’s client base of small and medium-sized companies.


We are part of an international business services group focused on providing comprehensive professional services to clients in the UK and overseas. A large proportion of our clients are SME companies with non-resident directors and shareholders.


The group companies operate in the UK, Sweden, Finland and Estonia. Our offices provide a broad spectrum of accounting, tax consulting, virtual office, legal and secretarial services.


Key responsibilities:


Assisting the accountants in preparing accounts for limited companies


Assisting the accountants in preparing tax calculations and tax returns for limited companies and individuals


Preparing VAT and payroll calculations


Recording accounting transactions


Providing office administration support


Our ideal candidate will have the following:


AAT qualification or studying towards ACA or ACCA


At least 1 year of experience working within an accountancy practice


High accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail


Excellent communication skills


Career-focused and progress-driven approach


Proficiency in Xero accounting software would be particularly advantageous. Competence in Microsoft Excel and Word is a prerequisite. Training will be provided on the firm’s CRM. Working knowledge of French or German would be advantageous but isn’t essential.


A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their desire to develop the necessary skills and competences for supporting their colleagues in providing an exceptional service to our clients and for contributing to driving our business forward.


Occasional travel to the company head office in Europe may be required for this role.


The position is being offered at an annual salary between £18,000 – £20,000 dependent on the level of experience and background of the candidate. Our regular working week is from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.


Our office in Moorgate has excellent transport links.


Study support may be considered upon successful performance.
