Fair Trials is a specialist human rights charity that exists to improve respect for the right to a fair trial in criminal cases by: providing information and referrals to accused people; coordinating a growing global network of fair trial defenders; and tackling the big issues in criminal justice through research, public campaigns, policy work & litigation.
Fair Trials has grown gradually over the past five years and is funded by a combination of EU grants (1/3), major trusts (1/3) and individuals, law firms and smaller trusts (together, 1/3). Our ambitious strategy to expand the reach of our work creates exciting opportunities to generate new sources of income and to build on our existing relationships.
We are looking for two exceptional candidates to form a new Development Team. You will be compelling advocates for our cause, generating diverse and sustainable financial support for the next stage of our development and long-term security:
Development Officer
We are looking for someone with the skills to turn an understanding and enthusiasm for human rights and criminal justice into successful fundraising. You will work with the Development Manager and other members of the staff team across the full range of our fundraising activities. Fundraising experience would be a distinct advantage but you will be supported to build this.
The skills and experience required for each role are set out in the Job Descriptions but, above all, candidates must have a passion for criminal justice and human rights and the capacity to develop an in-depth understanding of our work and the exceptional communication skills needed to generate support for our mission to build the fair and effective justice systems that are at the heart of safe, secure and just societies.
