Public Safety Officer




Public Safety Officer: 1st Choice Recruitment and Training Ltd offers comprehensive manpower solutions and specialised support services and have been doing so for 10 years. As recruiters for a large number of the London Borough Councils, we are looking for an ambitious and motivated Public Safety Officer to work within a dynamic team undertaking Community Protection for one of our Clients.


The core purpose of the Public Safety Officer role is to promote and ensure compliance with the Safety at Sports Grounds Act, Fire safety, Licensing and Health safety and allied/related legislation.


The winning candidate must have;


Experience in and knowledge of sports ground safety and how to ensure the safety of spectators


Ability to advise the sports ground on how to comply with the safety certificate


The key responsibilities for the winning candidate will be required to;


Attend meetings and liaise with other authorities, agencies, council units, service providers and similar organisations.


Prepare reports on premises/activities inspected, following complaints, programmed inspections or as part of surveys, and maintain premises, case, and other records.


Prepare and progress reports for Council committees, panels and other meetings as required.


Attend and present reports to committees etc as necessary.


Investigate complaints and service requests and take appropriate action.


Undertake enforcement duties in accordance with the service enforcement policy, including interviewing, statement taking, gathering and preparation of evidence, compiling prosecution reports, attending court and giving evidence.


Provide specialist and expert advice and guidance to licensees, applicants, employers, employees, general public, Councillors and colleagues on service related matters, and in particular to interpret new and existing legislation to assess their implications for the community.

Working hours are from 9 to 5 but extended hours may be required e.g during a concert. You must also be able to perform inspections at heights and you will be required to wear the provided personal protective gear.
