Tenancy Fraud Investigator

Salary: up to £39,000.00 per annum


Job type: Temporary (6 months)


The Shared Services of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster City Council and the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham are looking for two experienced Tenancy Fraud Investigators to join their high profile Corporate Anti-Fraud Service.


We are looking for investigators to assist in ensuring that social housing goes to those in genuine need. This is a challenging opportunity to work in an environment that encourages initiative and an innovative approach and where the highest standards are achieved.


The successful candidates will maintain a high standard of investigations, using their initiative to lawfully gather admissible evidence, draft concise reports to the line manager on each investigated case and prepare case files for prosecution.


Working primarily across Westminster or Kensington you will also be expected to visit properties outside normal office hours, as well as attend Crown and Magistrates Courts, Appeals Tribunals and disciplinary hearings to give evidence when required.


You will be:


  • part of a professional team dealing with housing fraud

  • responsible for your own caseload from start to finish

  • working in conjunction with other local councils, housing associations or the local police force to help work in the prevention of fraud

  • using surveillance and interviewing techniques

  • reviewing and evaluating allegations of fraud and collating evidence

  • securing evidence for preparing cases for prosecution

You need to be an experienced fraud investigator (a qualification is desirable) with previous relevant experience ideally in the public sector or an understanding of housing management law relating to tenancy issues and have a flexible approach to accommodate out of normal hours working. An up to date working knowledge of POSHFA, PACE, CPIA and RIPA is expected.
