Housing and Homelessness Assessment Officer - Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea - London W8

HOUSING & HOMELESSNESS ASSESSMENT OFFICER

Range C SO1-SO2 (£28,845 – £32,964)

Ranked one of the country’s best performing councils, Kensington and Chelsea is a borough of enormous economic and cultural diversity, with extremes of wealth and deprivation existing side by side. The borough presents a uniquely challenging environment in which to provide a high quality housing advice service.

We require two permanent Housing & Homelessness Assessment Officers to join our team and help us deliver comprehensive housing information & advice, with a strong emphasis on preventing homelessness, and homelessness assessment.

Housing needs are incredibly diverse and typically you will interview applicants who may be homeless or threatened with homelessness and in priority need, under the terms of the 1996 Housing Act Part VII. Part of your role will include undertaking detailed investigations as a result of interviews, and being ultimately responsible for recommending a decision on housing duty, or routes into alternative housing using various housing options.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with some frontline experience in the public sector, preferably in the housing advice / homelessness / housing benefits / tenancy relations field. A high standard of written work is required and knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 Part VII (as amended) is desirable.

As well as possessing excellent time management and communication skills, you must have an unwavering customer focus; this is as equally important as any specific housing experience. Job Ref: 1163.

Expect excellent benefits.
