The College of Life and Environmental Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Social Psychology to join the Social, Environmental & Organisational Research Group (SEORG) in the Psychology Department at the University of Exeter. The group is one of the largest collections of social psychologists in the UK – widely recognised for applying psychological theory to a range of social issues including leadership, gender discrimination, stress, health and well-being, pro and anti-social behaviour and climate change. There are currently 12 full-time academic staff, 5 Post-Doctoral Fellows and 15 PhD students in the group


The successful applicant will hold a PhD within the Psychology area and have an independent, internationally recognised research programme in a field of psychology research related or complementary to existing Exeter strengths. She/he will be able to demonstrate the following qualities and characteristics;


  • A track record of publications in high quality journals; strong record in attracting research funding, or demonstrable potential to attract such funding;

  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for delivering excellent educational experiences;

  • An active and supportive approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research;

  • An interest in a range of methods including qualitative and quantitative approaches;

  • Teamwork skills to work in collaboration with existing group members and other members of the department and the University;

  • A willingness to engage in continuous professional development.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level candidates will be able to evidence a strong research funding track record and portfolio of leading international publications. Appointments at all levels will demonstrate enthusiasm for delivering teaching that extends and enhances our current undergraduate programmes. We particularly welcome applications from candidates holding individual fellowships and may make additional appointments to suitably qualified candidates.
