Salary:
Research Assistant (without PhD): £26,537 – £28,143
Research Associate (with PhD): £28,982 – £30,738 (with progression to £37,768)


You will be part of the Newcastle University autism research group, and spend your time working on a project investigating the appropriateness of the World Health Organisation Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQoL-BREF) for capturing the experiences of autistic adults. You will analyse an existing dataset to examine the measurement properties of the questionnaire, convene and participate in interviews and focus groups with autistic adults about the items in the questionnaire, and then revise as appropriate the WHOQoL-BREF. The adapted questionnaire would then be sent out for completion by participants in the Adult Autism Spectrum Cohort, based at Newcastle University. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the study, including analysis and dissemination of findings.


You will have a PhD in psychology or related discipline, or an MSc with equivalent research experience. Experience of analysis of questionnaire data, and conduct of focus groups and analysis of qualitative data is desirable.  You will have experience of working with people on the autism spectrum and their families, as well as excellent communication and organisational skills.


Tenable for 11 months.
