Research Associate in Cellular/Systems Neuroscience

Applications are invited for a BBSRC-funded Research Associate position, working with Dr Paul Chadderton and Dr Stephen Brickley to study the consequences of ageing on neuronal circuits in the cerebral cortex. The research program will apply a range of powerful in vitro and in vivo techniques to map functional and anatomical changes in cortical circuitry


We seek a highly motivated individual to fill this post, in possession, or soon to receive* a PhD/DPhil (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. It is necessary for the post holder to be experienced in one of the following methods:


  • Whole cell patch clamp and optogenetic circuit mapping

  • Training and measurement of cognitive performance in rodents

  • In vivo electrophysiology in awake preparations

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £29,800 – £32,970 per annum
