Programme Sustainability Officer

15 months fixed-term contract

WaterAid is looking for a Programme Sustainability Officer to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene in the world’s poorest communities.

Working within the Programme Support Unit (PSU), the Officer will:

• Provide support to the PSU with communication of the results of Post-Implementation Monitoring Surveys (PIMS).


• Support Country Programmes to identify suitable follow-up actions which strengthen the sustainability of services.


• Support the process of carrying out in-depth sustainability assessments.


• Provide general support to activities relating to WaterAid’s water security theme of work.

To be successful, you’ll need:

• First class oral and written skills in English.


• Demonstrable experience of writing and producing clear briefing notes.


• Demonstrable understanding of WASH sector service sustainability issues.


• A demonstrable commitment to social justice and development issues through experience in campaigns, voluntary work or academic research.

This is a rolling 15-month internship opportunity that is ideal for a recent graduate or postgraduate looking to gain or grow their experience in the water, sanitation and hygiene development sector. The thematic focus of each 15-month opportunity will change depending on PSU’s needs.
