About the role


We are seeking Learning & Development Officer to support the performance, learning and development of our client’s workforce, Barnet Council.


You will take the lead on Organisational Development (OD) projects and coordinate a comprehensive range of L&D schemes for the wider council i.e. commissioning training, developing content, and even undertaking some training and briefing sessions yourself. You will also have the opportunity to become involved with some more generalist HR duties and tasks, whilst working within a supportive team environment onsite with the client.

What you will do:


  • Lead on OD projects, design and deliver learning interventions on new and/or existing development initiatives such as management development and team leadership programmes.

  • Develop new programmes to support Council initiatives, the business planning process, people and OD strategy and annual corporate objectives.

  • To be responsible for the development of all training materials, researching new ways of learning for staff – for example: master class workshops; Q & A sessions, e-learning, action learning sets.

  • Maintain Learning Management System (LMS), including inputting application forms/attendance records, updating new and existing learning activities, and running reports for the client.

  • Co-ordinate Management conferences / events as directed by Head of OD on behalf of the Client.

  • Manage data collection for the Corporate Induction programmes including: updating/monitoring Corporate Induction data, feedback evaluation and record DNAs.

  • Maintain accurate records of learning and development activity, reporting on shortage of places on courses, delegates on waiting lists, and courses for which there are a low level of bookings.

Your experience will include:

  • Experience of working within a L&D or OD environment

  • Experience of managing client relationships within an outsourced environment

  • Exceptional planning & organisational and verbal / written communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and to meet tight deadlines

  • IT Literate and competent in the use of IT systems (e.g. word/excel/PowerPoint

  • Displays ‘can do & do’ attitude
