United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Field Medical Logistician (UK with international travel)
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Emergency Medical Team (EMT) is part of an expanding Health Department. EMT will consist of a team of technical and operations staff capable of rapid deployments to health crises, supporting on-going health programming, undertaking needs assessments and providing remote support to Country Programmes. The EMT will work in both sudden onset and chronic emergencies, respond to infectious disease outbreaks and stand ready to deploy at short notice to health crises globally.
· Ensure logistics support to EMT assessments, set up and on-going programming
· Support the establishment and maintenance of field site facilities and team life
· Ensure establishment of effective supply chain for all health response programming
· Provide general logistics support to the Health Unit
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2 – 3 years experience of logistics in support of health, nutrition or WASH programming in difficult and insecure environments;
Good inter-personal skills, and ability to work within a large and diverse team, often in stressful environments;
Strong problem solving ability;
Experience of managing teams;
Strong negotiation skills;
Good communication skills;
Working knowledge of satelite communications and IT systems;
An ability to manage a complex and varied workload, perform to tight deadlines, and first-rate planning and time management skills;
Ability to travel, often at short notice, and occasionally to remote and insecure locations for up to 3 months at a time;
Experience of security management;
Experience of working with one or more of the following donors – DFID, ECHO, OFDA;
Experience of delivering training and capacity building;
High level IT knowledge and skills;
Working knowledge of French, or other languages – especially Arabic, an advantage.
