Job overview: The Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education are seeking to appoint a Professor of Childhood to provide research leadership in relation to Childhood, and to develop a Faculty Research Centre of Childhood. Your research, doctoral supervision and teaching will also contribute to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We have thriving and successful programmes in Early Childhood and Teacher Education in the Department where you will be based, and are currently developing the study of Childhood as a linking theme across the Faculty. We have many areas of study relating to childhood in the Department and Faculty, including Children’s Rights and Participation, Education, Literature and Writing, Design and Illustration, and Film, Screen and Digital Media.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- A strong track record of publication and practice in relation to one or more of childhood, childhood cultures, creativity and learning.
 - A successful track-record of bid submission leading to grant capture nationally and internationally, and of completion of significant research projects.
 - A strong track-record of research leadership, collaborative working (within university contexts and with stakeholder groups), and working across Departments and Faculties.
 - A successful track-record of linking research to learning and teaching.
 - A significant record of doctoral supervision to completion, and a proven ability to teach and supervise doctoral students in Education, and across fields relating to children and those working with and on behalf of children
