Support Worker / Money Advisor - Supported Housing Project



Work Relief Charity Recruitment is acting on behalf of one of London’s most established charities that specialises in the provision of support, guidance and housing to people with complex support needs.


We are recruiting for a Financial Inclusion Advisor / Money Advisor to provide support and guidance on managing finances to clients on a one to one and training capacity.

Stockwell, London


£25,000 per annum, pro rata


22.5 hours per week (includes some late afternoons and early evenings)


Initial 1 year contract, possible extension.


We are looking for candidates with experience of providing basic money / financial / debt advice to vulnerable clients with experience/knowledge of issues faced by people who have experienced homelessness.


Duties will include:


  • Promote financial inclusion through delivering workshops and one to one sessions supporting customers to manage their finances

  • To support customers to minimise their rent arrears and debt, to manage their money and understand financial responsibility

  • Establish key partnership and working relationship with external agencies and ensure successful referral routes and sign posting

  • To work in partnership with rent and income advisors across services and key workers to support customers to manage their money

  • Create an information resource pack for customers

  • To provide one to one support regarding money and debt advice

  • Where appropriate advocate on behalf of customers with debt organisations

This is a super role within the charity which will inevitably lead to the successful candidate carving a career within this organisation and charity sector. We see this as an ideal role for an experienced money advisor with experience in debt counselling; debt, welfare, benefit advice; household budgeting or anyone who has a proven track record in providing a similar service in a social, community or charitable setting.


Suitable candidates will have experience and/or knowledge in the following:


  • Proven experience of providing money advice in a housing environment with a good knowledge of the current welfare benefits

  • Fantastic communication skills

  • Previous experience of working with people who have experienced homelessness.

  • Knowledge of the support needs of verified rough sleepers and how these can be supported in a hostel environment.

  • Knowledge of best practice in providing money management advice.

  • Ability to facilitate groups and deliver training
