The School of Health Sciences is a leading provider of undergraduate education in nursing, midwifery, operating department practice, and paramedic practice and has an extensive portfolio of postgraduate and continuing professional development courses, research and consultancy.
The School of Health Sciences seeks to appoint a Research Fellow in eHealth and Dementia Care. The researcher will work with Professor Roma Maguire and the project implementation team on a large scale evaluation study funded by Innovate UK investigating the clinical and cost effectiveness of an Internet of Things Testbed for people with dementia and their carers. The 2 year £5 million project entitled ‘TIHM – Technology Integrated Health Management’ includes a number of related work packages organised around the prominent theme of using smart technology to support people with dementia and their carers to live safely at home.
This role would suit an experienced researcher keen to establish themselves in the field of social sciences, ehealth, innovation and evaluation studies. The appointee will need to undertake a range of research activities within the specified research area, assuming responsibility for specific areas of projects and making use of new research techniques and methods, in consultation with the research award holder, supervisor and the project team. This may include fieldwork and qualitative interviewing before progressing to co-ordinating the implementation of the randomised controlled trial (RCT) of the IoT Testbed technology solutions developed during the project for people with dementia and their carers. It is expected that the post holder will have experience on critical evaluation, interpretation, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, evaluation and library research. Background in the field of dementia and ehealth will be an advantage.

For the Research Fellow post you should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and bring with you experience of health and social care research. Experience of working with people with dementia and their carers and using mixed methods approaches is essential. Experience of eHealth research is desirable.
