Be the friendly face of the nation’s fastest-growing supermarket

At Lidl, our success comes directly from our teams pulling together to make sure our customers get the best service and products every time they visit one of our stores. We all strive to make our supermarkets the best in the area. So we need go-the-extra-mile, team-strengthening, day-brightening Customer Assistants to help us continue to lead the way as the fastest-growing supermarket in the UK. As the official supermarket of the English Football Association, the Scottish Football Association and theFootball AssociationofWales you’ll have the whole nation behind you as you kick-off your Lidl career.

Lend a hand to every area

Lend a hand no matter what’s in store

Depending on the size of your store, your team could have anywhere between 6 and 50 people. As well as the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, you’ll be working with other Customer Assistants. But in our stores it doesn’t really matter what your position is because we all pitch in to get the job done.

  • You will be trained to work across all areas of the store so you can support the management team with all store operations

  • Carry out freshness checks, manage stock, operate the checkouts, handle cash, unpack deliveries and ensure your store is always clean and tidy

  • Act as a brand ambassador to make sure that everyone you come into contact with, from customers to suppliers, leave the store with a positive impression of how we work at Lidl

  • Develop your skills through training with your managers and lend a hand to any task, whether that’s on the shop floor or behind the scenes.

Customer-delighting, team-supporting, initiative-taking team members

As a Customer Assistant in one of our stores, you’ll be part of a fast-paced, energetic team. Your friendly, helpful attitude towards every customer and the pride you take in a job well done is critical to our business success.

  • Some experience in a customer service role is preferred but not essential if you can demonstrate the commitment to always go above and beyond for your customers

  • Enthusiasm to work well with your team members, support them in achieving your store goals and take initiative in making decisions when required

  • Willingness to learn quickly, manage multiple day-to-day tasks and complete all tasks efficiently to achieve the highest standards in your store

  • To be responsible and reliable, with a highly professional attitude to your work and the flexibility to adapt to a fast-moving working environment

Develop a career for life

You’ll be based in one of our stores throughout the UK mainland. You could work between 10 and 40 hours per week, during the day or at night, to suit your lifestyle. As well as excellent pay and a great benefits package, including store and corporate discounts, 30 days’ holiday and a contributory pension scheme, working at Lidl means excellent long-term career prospects.

We’re committed to your on-going development from day one so we’ll make sure you have all the training you need to be successful in your role. We’re the fastest-growing retailer in the UK and we have a focus on developing our staff. So there are lots of different ways for you to progress and build a career with us, such as becoming a Training Mentor for new team members. A brilliant Customer Assistant could also become a Duty Manager, which is where we give experienced Customer Assistants additional managerial responsibilities. It’s also a stepping stone into store management itself. Because what we do is not just any job, we make Lidl possible.
