PhD Studentships: Psychology


The School of Psychology at the University of Plymouth is offering four full-time three-year PhD studentships including a stipend of £14,057, starting in September 2016, as well as two five-year part-time PhD studentships (in conjunction with part-time Teaching and Research Associate positions).    


Both full-time and part-time studentships are available in any of the specialist areas of research supported by the school. The school has a wide range of psychology research interests including cognition, learning, vision, music, developmental, emotion, health, clinical, social and neuroscience. A range of potential projects can be found below.


Successful applicants will be part of a large, vibrant, highly collaborative community of PhD students with good interdisciplinary links. Currently the school has 50 students registered for a PhD, and 30 students studying for a DClinPsy. Psychology PhD students automatically become members of both the Plymouth University Doctoral Training Centre in Social Sciences, which provides interdisciplinary training and networking opportunities for around 160 doctoral students, and the Cognition Institute (https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/institutes/cognition) which is an interdisciplinary research Institute providing further opportunities for training and collaboration. 


Research in the School of Psychology includes excellence in cognitive neuroscience, learning, vision and action, social psychology, language development, thinking and reasoning, memory, imagery, health and well-being, and human factors. Students have access to an extensive, modern and well-equipped laboratory facilities supported by a dedicated team of technical staff.
