Birkbeck, University of London is a research-intensive institution ranked in the top 1% in the world by the THE. The School of Business, Economics and Informatics brings together the College’s business-facing activities, teaching around 5,000 students across its four departments.
The Department of Organisational Psychology is looking to enhance further its research reputation by the creation of a new Chair in Leadership Studies. The new professor will be a specialist in leadership and bring a track record of research funding with an associated high quality publication portfolio. The Department has a vibrant research culture with groups specialising in qualitative and quantitative methods, and collectively it has a wide range of research projects across organisational psychology. Our students are predominantly professionals in their own right and are taught in the evenings and by distance learning.
This role has been created to develop a cluster of expertise in leadership within the Department. The post-holder will be an integral part of a new MBA programme which is being developed in partnership with Central St Martins. This programme aims to deliver design thinking to business leaders underpinned by a critical approach to research that will enable innovation to thrive. A further key partnership is with the Royal College of Physicians with whom we deliver an MSc in Medical Leadership. This programme is specifically designed for clinicians and has created a leadership-focussed pool of alumni, all of whom are doctors. The post holder would be likely to join the team developing research collaborations with the RCP in the area of leadership in the NHS.
