Quantity Surveyor-Infrastructure Projects for Transport Company



We are currently recruiting for an immediate start Quantity Surveyor position to work for our client who is a leading transport company based in London. The ideal candidate will be degree level educated and will have experience providing a high level of quantity surveying support to the project / delivery team by assisting with procurement, cost and contract management.


The client is looking for an individual who is confident in providing accurate and appropriate cost and variation records, has experience with drafting and compiling contractual agreements and has worked within an environment previously where they proactively manage relationships with external professional bodies. The successful candidate will be working towards or be of chartered status of MRICS or MCIPS.


The key responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:


  • Support and advise Project Manager’s with contract administration, potential cost impact issues, disputes and claims

  • Manage evaluation, tender, negotiation, procurement and execution of various service / work contracts ensuring each process is appropriate and compliant

  • Draft and compile contract agreements and documents using specifications / invitations to tender for contractors

  • Assess entitlement and effect of change events and quantum whilst maintaining the commercial interests of the Company

  • Ensure projects are in adherence of corporate government policies, industry best practice and each is managed to minimize cost variations and claims

  • Estimate and value management analysis of contract submissions, assisting with optimum selection of procurement and contracting strategies

Essential skills of Quantity Surveyor:


  • A minimum of three years’ previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor

  • Ability to work largely unsupervised and demonstrate an excellent level of judgement and initiative

  • Strong knowledge of IT programmes, and skilled working with spreadsheets and databases

  • High attention to detail with excellent written skills to express complex commercial issues

  • Good working knowledge of various construction contracts and negotiation skills
